So you want to delve into the world of photography? We all start somewhere right? So we think the Holga 120N is a great camera to start off with. Well even if you already have snapped your way through a few films this camera is fun! Yes its pretty much all plastic and classed as a toy camera but its durable and lightweight. The Holga 120N is cheap to buy, its fun and you can be really creative with it! So as a starting point we think it ticks the boxes. The camera is nice and portable and it is also re-useable, so once you have finished a film, just load another. It is very easy to use and has some features that you play around with and try.
With the plastic body construction and a plastic lens it can contribute to distinct image quality, which is characterized by light leaks, vignetting, and soft focus. So don’t expect the same results every time. Just have fun and learn!
The Holga toy camera takes 120 roll film and has two different film size masks so you can choose between twelve 6cm x 6cm pictures or 16 6cm x 4cm pictures.
There is a tripod mount and a hot shoe for attaching an external flash.
The Holga comes with a 60mm f/8 lens which provides a normal field of view for working in a wide variety of situations. A zone focus system allows you to focus as closely as 3 feet away.
The Holga has 1/100 sec shutter speed and also a bulb setting for long exposures.
